How do you use the "J" hook on a sheath

Just like the title says. I just got a Custom Ivan Campos Vespa with a nice kydex sheath. It came with a little "J" shaped kydex attachment. How do you use this to carry the knife? This is the first time I have ever seen such a thing. I assume it attaches to the sheath and then to your pants, but how? Am I stupid cause I can't figure this thing out?

Is it IWB carry? If so then you can attach it so that the hook portion goes under you belt to keep the sheath in place when you draw the knife. You can also use it with the hook part inboard to the sheath and it will grab on the waistband if you are not wearing a belt.

That makes perfect sense. Thanx. I was placing the hook on the side of the sheath that faces the outside of my pants. I will put it on the opposite side of the sheath so it grabbs across the sheath. Can you picture that? I'm sure if I fiddle around with it I will get it right. Any other pro's in this matter out there?
