It's rather simply really:
1) You click on the "Search" menu and type in your topic
2) You TRY to figure out by the abstract topic headers what the thread might remotely have to do with what you are looking for - or
3) What you are looking for is so popular it blows up the search engine and gives you an "Unable to display this web page" error - with something like "Suggest a belt grinder" - or
4) You dredge up some topic that is so old the first 4 responses are "Ugh! Not THIS thread AGAIN!" or "You should have used the 'Search' to answer your question!"
5) You respond to a post that's been moved to a forum where 95% of it doesn't actually have anything to do with your search, and people start saying stuff like "What does grinding have to do with gold plating?!"
6) You can't make out ANY of the responses in the search engine and end up posting something that causes everyone who has been on the forums for any length of time to start whining about how "You should have used the 'Search' function first" - which actually ends up wasting as much, or more bandwidth and time than your original thread would have.
