How do you use your One-Handed Pliers?

I recently took on some DIY projects and realized how often I need to use the pliers on my Wave.

I pretty much like to close my tool after every use and put it in my pocket each time, so I end up opening and closing it quite a bit. I wish I had a pair of one-handed opening pliers for this very reason. What is your collective experience on this:

Do you use your one-handed pliers a lot?
What kinds of tasks do you use it for?
Would you recommend getting one?
Which one? What are the pros and cons?

I’d like to hear your comments. Thanks Guys! :):):)

I open my PSt like a butterly-knife.
Granted, its 15+ years old, but still going strong.

Added some griptape on one half of the grip, so I dont slip...

the leatherman sheath will accept the wave with the pliers in the open position. maybe try keeping them open and use the belt sheath?

I know that reviews are mixed but my made in USA mp400 is over 10 years old and has withstood everything I can put it through.

That's what I do. The sheath design is clever, practical and works well for me. There have been a few disparagements of current Leatherman sheaths posted here and elsewhere, but my experience with them has been positive.

You can open the Wave pliers one handed, just wedge your finger to start the process and finish on your thigh. The few times I've used the out the front models like Gerbers, I've pinched my palm on the almost closed handled when I've needed to grab something small.

On my SOG Powerlock, flipping the pliers open like a butterfly knife is pretty easy. The Gerber FLiK pliers open really easily with just a flick of the wrist, but I don't care too much for the plier head on that one...

The butterfly opening of the powerlock is indeed a walk in the park. Though i need to get more subtlety with it. Too much of an enthusiastic flip and it hits the knuckle of my middle finger dead-on. With the weight of the powerlock it actualy hurt me once...
Love the gerber system too. Only i find the gerbers a bit flimsy compared to the SOG which is build like tank.

I just Flik mine out the front, lol the Gerber Flik otf. The plier heads not as strong as a leatherman but the only thing I use them for is a roach clip and they work great for that. The tools I use all the time though, and they are all great expecialy the scissors and saw. But it has a flat phillups which I hate, and the blade is a little thin I've chipped it a few times and I snapped the very tip off removing a lighter saftey off a DJEEP. But they are great, and cost less then leathermans but I wouldnt trade them for anything.
