Re-glue the kydex insert back into the sheath?

I decided the insert in my SH sheath was too loose so I popped it out, heated it up, tightened it up.... anyone know what kind of glue will work best to stick it back inside the nylon?

Thanks for the reply.

Superglue? I didn't think it would hold up to much flexing. Learn something every day, I guess. :)

How long has it been since you did that, Raden, and have you carried it around and used it much since?

Edited to add: And did you bother roughing up the kydex before you glued it, or just slather the glue and shove it in. My insert's slick-side out, which I sort of thought would cause some problems.....

I used very little glue. I did rough it alittle with a brillo pad. I only glued it around the very top. I haven't carried it much but I do play with it alot, You could also use hot glue, that's how they are originally attached.

I used clear marine silicon brother...

works real well and easily popped out again with a 12" steel ruler if any modifications (oops!) urm, repairs is to be done to the sheath such as tightening the kydex.

Another way to take out the slop is to stick those little velcro dots (about the size of a penny?) on the inside, the furry side....

thank you, come again...

Hot glue baby!:D

As you reinsert it run a couple globs down inside and press till it cools.
I have also heated and slightly flared (funneled) the top so when it's reinserted 1/16" to 1/8" is above the nylon. This keeps the blade tip from catching between the layers and makes it smoother for insertion.

That small slit where a blade point can catch between the outercover and insert (with many sheath makers) has always been a pain in the a**. I've never tried to round-out the top on my own, is it fairly easy to get a good result?

Hot Glue did it - didn't have a glue gun anyay, it was a GREAT excuse to pick up another toy. Thanks Guys.

DN - Yes, it is.
