How does a blade achieve the Sal and Eric stamps?

I have quite a few Golden made Spydercos, but the PM2 that was delivered today is the first with the Sal and Eric tattoos on the blade. My Millies don't, even my sprint Orange Millie doesn't have them.

How does a blade get these status marks?

Im pretty sure the stamps designate the designers of the knife. With both Eric's and Sal's stamp on the PM2, it was designed by both of them.

Yeah but the military was designed by Sal. So why no stamp?

That is the thing....I have seen the D2 Military with the Sal stamp, my Orange Sprint does not, and I cannot find an image with one......So if Sal designed the Military and as some said above, they should all have the stamp.

The big reason you don't see it on everything is cost, it costs money to laser engrave stuff, for their biggest and best stuff yea of course they're gonna have their marks on it, but Sal and Eric (and the rest of the in-house design team) design everything that isn't a collab, so why spend the extra money/time to engrave them when it's pretty obvious who designed them.

The blades that do get their marks are done out of pride, if you designed a product that sold as well as the PM2 (Sal & Eric) or UKPK (Sal) or domino or Manix2 (Eric) wouldn't you want your mark on it too?

Good question, maybe Sal has special ones he is especially proud of. With the PM2 I think they do it because they designed it together. Cost may very well factor into it. My Stretch (VG-10 frn) does not have Sal's on it, but I have seen others that do. I have always been a little bummed it doesn't. I have also heard (in the case of the Domino) that it is classified as a collaboration with Eric, just the same as Southard or Bradley. That confused me too. They have designers on staff (Janich, Perrin, and maybe Bradley) that still get their knives labeled as collaborations. Who knows, but I do like having the designer's stamp or name on my blade. Brad Southard's and Sal's are especially cool.

What I wonder about is Eric's tattoo (as in the real tattoo on his hand), was that his old mark and he changed it for the blades or what? If I had a cool little mark like he does for the blades I would deff. get it tattoo'd on my hand the same spot he has his tattoo.

Mostly we haven't gotten around to it, or we didn't want to toot our own horn. Most of the designs that have been around for a long time or are in higher demand were designed by Eric or me or both. Maybe one day we'll get around to putting them on all of the knives, but we never felt it was a priority. ("man who beat on own chest knock self over backwards"). I push Eric to get his "tag" on his designs because he's newer to the industry than I am.

 Most definitely high class! I love that quote. It is funny but so true.
Sal, I just picked up a PM1 D2 sprint and I am loving it. Glade to see both of your initials on it.
