How does a spring lock folding knife work?

Specifically how does it open and close? I saw one on-line that looks very nice but I am hesitant because I'm not clear on the issue. Thanks for any advice.

There are a number of mechanisms which could broadly be described as a spring lock knife. Some lock closed, some lock open, some lock closed and open, all by way of spring pressure.

If I remember right, there is even a balisong which is spring-assisted.

More information would help...
 
That looks like a regular slip joint knife with a backspring, just using different terminology.
 
From the photos or description I can't make out any sort of lock.

Beautiful knife though.
 
I have just received an e-mail from the company and a spring lock is indeed a slip joint knife.
 
All they mean by spring lock is that the knife does not close when it's open, not that it's locked open. This is contrasting to other knives that rely on your palm pressure like a friction folder or Japanese higonokami.
