...compare to a Spyderco Para?

Surprisingly(to me) I haven't owned an Emerson yet. CRKs, Spydies, BMs, and the other usuals but no Emersons.

Interested in a Commander SF and wondered how it compares to one of my favorite knives, the Para.

Thanks.

Along the same quality, but the Emerson uses the liner lock on the bottom. Also, the commander is much larger than the Para, its more comparable to the millie. Even a Mini Commander is bigger than the Para.

yeah...I see that now.

OK...for comparo I now mean the Para vs. the Mini-Comm.

Thanks

I would rate them equal, minus the recurve.

The Para's selling point for me was the compression lock, I loved it. It was also easy to sharpen and arrived very sharp from Sal. The down point is the ergos. It doesnt fit well in my hand, was far too small, and I didnt like having to place my finger on the blade (choil extends out onto the blade) to get a full purchase. The Para and its big brother are awesome knives and you cant go wrong with it.

I purchased a Mini Comm online last online, so I have yet to have any experience with it. I do like recurve blades, and, as I dont do my own sharpening, its a style I enjoy cutting with. If I dont like it I will replace it with a CQC 8.

The mini commander handle has a huge finger guard and as a result I can't get a full comfortable grip on it. I find the para much more comfortable.

I have the Mini Commander and the Para. I prefer the mini, it just fits my hand better and I really like the wave feature. They are nice knives, nothing wrong with having them both.

After owning both the Para and a Emerson CQC14 I'd go with the Spyderco any day. The compression lock is superior, as is f&f.

my horseman had a bad linerlock, remained easily stuck and went at 90% in little time, sold it

the pare on the other side has a grat lock, no wear sofar

the emerson has great 154 that I prefer to s30v, so i'ts a personal thing for me

Maxx
