How does Buck get that Mirror Finish?

I am curious; would someone please describe the process utilized to transform a blade to a mirror finish? Is it as straightforward as just more polishing time or are there more steps involved?

Thanks!!!

I heard it was a progression of bead blast finishes, culminating with shooting the blades with Ivory Snow [flakes]. Sadly, the flakes have been discontinued, but you can make your own by using a cheese grater (not grader!) on a bar of Ivory Soap. ;)

Hope that helps! :p

(Yep, it's a pretty boring day when it's 11ºF outside) :(

I get mine real close to Buck using 3 different tight sewn 8"buffing wheels.1st one using grey compound,2nd using green chrome, lastly use pink or white.

It is a progession of sorts, I'm not positive of the steps although I am fairly certain that it does not involve bead blasting or soap flakes.
When I do a blade, I use a scotch brite wheel to get out the grinding lines and then progess to a hard cotton wheel loaded with green compound.
Wilde Bill Cody told me how to do it with the use of film backed micron sanding belts. Its supposed to be much quicker but I'm usually too lazy to go searching for a micron belted whatchamacallit.
