Can someone explain to me how Busse goes about producing and selling their stuff? Do they have regular dealers that I have just not been able to find? As far as I can tell almost all of the busse traffic goes on on forums and stuff like that am I right? busse's seem to get passed around like crazy in the knife world!!

Well, where to start.

First rule of Busse..............You don't talk about Busse...................

Just kidding. You can buy direct from Bussecombat.com

Ordering direct, you have only the options they are making at the time. They do limited runs. You order, and when the knife is done, they ship it to you. The knife is not sitting on a shelf, it is made. This takes some time, and is limited to the model or models they are making at the time.

Second option. Order from their dealer

bussecompanystore.com

This is run by another gentleman that gets shippments of knives that are already made. They are ready to ship, if in stock. Much quicker, but also, you are limited to the knives he has on hand.

(oh, his name is Skunk....................or at least that is what we call him).

Third option. You go to the subforum on here for selling Busse knives (where you can buy Busse, Swamprat and Scrap yard knives. All family knives, with the super warranty, made by the same "family" all wonderful, both knives and people

Swampratknives.com, Scrapyardknives.com

There are other options. They are trickier, and take more skill and knowledge.

There are events called "ganzas" around here.

Tons of knives are offered, you have to be here, to read what will be offered, at what prices, and send an email when the time comes (usually a set date, at a general time window, and the then the boss Busse will post a "go" and you scramble to send your email with your order.

Do your research when buying on the secondary market. You can get great deals, or you can get ripped off! There are sharks that buy up tons of the knives, at shows, and through other less desirable means, and will fleece you if you let them. They get banned here occasionally.

Knifehunter is a dealer on here that is one of the good guys. He typically has a few Busse up for sale at any given time.

You can also go to knife shows where they sell. Blade in Atlanta. Knob Creek in KY (thanks for the correction). There are tons of knives sold there, at good prices. You can make friends on here, and actually have some one pick you up something if you have a connection that is going (Proxy buying is great if you can get it).

Direct prices will typically be best. Aftermarket, the prices can go up. But, you can find deals if you know your prices, and jump! I have purchased several this way at a savings over direct prices. You just have to be in the right place at the right time to hog one up! (this is very satisfying).

Ebay has them, typically at ridiculous prices, but occasionally there is a gem that pops up, and sells way under value! It happens very rarely, but when it does, it is often spectacular.

DO NOT BUY on Ebay unless you know what the knives are worth, or are going for normally. Or you will pay too much!

Figure out what they go for on here, if you see on you like on the Bay, feel free to bid, but set your price at what is reasonable, then walk away.

I have never purchased through the Bay, because I buy either direct, or through other members here.

Stick around. You will find this a great bunch! Hope this helps (it was a great mystery for me for quite a while before I found this place. Actually what drew me to Bladeforums was Busse knives!)

The knives are great! Toughest knives you will find. Just plain fun, and great people who collect and share them!

well my funds are kinda limited atm (student waitin to get my ass outta college:grumpy:), but i''ve been eyeing the busse meaner street to start off with if i can find one.
think thats a good one to start my busse obsession off with!

That is not all the info. Just the tip of the iceberg.

There are links and price guides etc at the top of the busse forum that give great info.

Price guides only tell you what it sold for originally. Many many are much more expensive to acquire now.

I am small time. I only have 4 right now, having moved a double handfull through the user rotation. I don't have enough cash to accumulate!. Just a core of users.

All lies! Don't believe any of it! And who the heck is skunk? Look how long I've been here compared to the person you're listening to.

Solid choice. Just picked one up

I am in TN near the KY border and all old family feuds were settled long ago so I can cross the state line. Where is the Knob Creek show held? Is there a firm date each year? Is the selection equal to Blade Show? Many thanks.

wait so is it only busse knives that use infi steel or do swamprat and scrapyard use infi sometimes as well?

Infi steel is a proprietary steel that was a gift from God handed down ONLY to Busse Combat. As far as I know, nobody else uses infi......including scrapyard and swamprat, even though they are bussekin. This is a lot of the reason Busse has a higher price than the other two. Busse is 100% custom, largely handmade, and infi steel is the best of the best and one of a kind. Completely worth it for the best knives and cutlery in the world.

If you're on a budget I suggest following the Scrapyard pretty closely. Many of my favourite knives have come from there, and their stuff has the same Busse pedigree (warranty and QC), so you know that everything was done right.

Don't listen to this guy, some of his Infi is broken, and folds!

Well, Scrapyard is run by a sneaky Devil, named Dan, who, on occasion will sneak, and connive, and grab Infi for his knives.

There are occasionally releases of Scrapyard with Infi. I believe that Swamprat has released one or two as well.

Scrapyard and Swamprat give you the performance, at a great price. They really are a steal for the steel you get!

Heat treat for every steel they use is fantastic! Warranty is top notch.

I am a huge fan of the Res C for users. It really is a huge step above any other "Rubber-ish" handle material I have ever used!

I have a Swamp Rat Howling Rat (purchased direct around 2006-2007) that, unless I'm very much mistaken, is Infi. Can anyone confirm if Swamprat made the Howling Rat in Infi?

It's a sterile version. I was military at the time, and I remember ordering with my .mil address and being moved to the front of the line of people waiting on knives. (I did deploy with it.)

All the Howling Rats were made from SR101.
