How do these two brands compare to say kershaw or spyderco. How is there customer service? Any info is appreciated. I don't mind giving them shot of its worth it

Crkt is generally a substandard product, significantly overpriced.

SOG's Seki, Japan made models are well made. Their other offerings are much less so.

Both brands are overpriced, and generally target shoppers at brick and mortar stores, where looks and gimmicks are more important to the end user than quality.

Many moons ago, I was a SOG fanboy. As their prices went up and quality went down, I left them in the dust.

Not even close to top of the line. Mostly cheap junk. CRKT is worse IMO because of their QC but the SOG SAT folders and most of their new stuff is low quality, over priced, and geared for the mall ninja crowd.

Kershaw and spyderco are going to be much better choices.

Sog products seem very decent in my experience with them. Crkt seems about as decent, but I really don't think either brand is fairly priced. I'd say they're about as good as the imported kershaw knives.

I pretty much left SOG when they came out with their Sogzilla line. Prior to that, I actively purchased SOG knives (at least selectively). I own probably at least 10 of their knives currently, maybe a few more. Their Access Card 2.0 is my desk knife and it is not a bad knife. The Seki stuff is still pretty good. But I think things are a bit over priced. I seldom even look at their knives. But I honestly have to say I looked at a couple at Bass Pro yesterday.

Over all, I was never impressed with the CRKT line of knives. They just seemed expensive for what you got. The only ones I own are the Razel's (three different models). They are work knives for me.

So I would lean toward Kershaw or ZT and Spyderco.

Spyderco and kershaw are not really comparable with CRKT and SOG... except they also make knives ;)
Quality, fit and finish are clearly better

The only sog I'd recommend is the flash and trident.

.....you either need to stop giving advice, which is mostly wrong or do a hell of a lot more reading here (I do believe you acknowledged that you didn't know much about knives already). Though I do somehow feel you are just yanking everyone's chain.

None of those can compare to Spyderco. Maybe close when it comes to spydercos affordable line like the byrd line or tenacious but in my opinion Spyderco is superior.

I like Kershaw and CRKT. Have had excellent service from CRKT. Currently carry a Kershaw Oso-Sweet and love my old Kershaw Crown (don't know why they took it out of production). Sometimes carry a CRKT Vertex (also out of production) and really like my CRKT M4 Wood and M4 Stag. Only SOG is a Sogslipzilla which you could not open OHO or with pliers! Tang was so squared off and burred that I had to take it apart and file the tang corners and make a larger bottom spring hole (where the pocket clip connects) to loosen the spring to the point that I finally could get it open with my thumb with a lot of strength. Won't buy another SOG. IMHO, Kershaw, CRKT are way better than SOG. Don't have any Spydercos.

What I like about CRKT is that they aren't afraid to try new things - just look at all the Klecker designs. Many of their knives have unique designs, which is risky as they typically don't fall into the 'tactical' category that's more popular for modern folder companies these days. I respect them. That, and Rob Bremer is such a cool guy, he kept a conversation going with me when I asked for advice on what college courses to take to become a knife designer.

IMHO, the best to the worst:

Spyderco

Kershaw

SOG

CRKT

It just depends upon the knife in question. Maybe CRKT could be above SOG.

I'm not much of a Spydie fan, but as far as comparing SOG and CRKT to Kershaw, you might as well start with a level playing field by excluding US-made Kershaws, because as much as I consider myself a Kershaw fan overall, the combination of better materials and (in my experience) more consistent QC sets the American models apart from the current imports, and even more so from SOG, CRKT, etc. I've always felt that CRKT had a lot of really interesting designs, and have taken my chances with a few of them, but as others have commented in this and other threads, their choice of materials and actual execution aren't in line with their prices. Most of my CRKTs have been bought used or on clearance, and it's a good thing, because there have definitely been a couple of clunkers in the mix. My limited experience with CRKT customer service has been less than stellar, and that was when the knife in question had multiple flaws new out of the box. As far as SOG goes, I have a number of their knives, and as with CRKT, some/most simply cost more (street price) than the quality or materials warrant. I'm not a fan of their assisted opening mechanism, but I like most of their fixed blades and manual folders. The Vulcan is a personal favorite.

I feel that Kershaw is headed down the path of CRKT and SOG in that a number of their newer designs seem gimmicky and of typical "meh" budget-line construction, with G10 and 8Cr13MoV not even being standard. You need to actually check the specs before buying a Kershaw these days.

NNNNNGGGGG wrong, try again.

OP, both are generally of middling to poor quality. CRKT has the additional insult of being overpriced for what you get. SOGs are unfortunate, because SOG knives were excellent a long time ago. These days, they're cheap imported trash. I'd pass on both CRKT and SOG and get a Spyderco, Buck American-made offering, American made Kershaw offering, or even a Cold Steel. In fact, if you don't have a lot of scratch, I'd get a Cold Steel in your price range before I bought anything CRKT or SOG makes.

There was a time when I considered Cold Steel and SOG as direct competitors, maybe more so with fixed blades than folders, but I feel a lot more confident trying to actually work with a Cold Steel folder. I have a SOG Salute (Chinese 8Cr13MoV) that has been a great EDC knife and done a little bit of fire prep, but it's a lockback and a pretty stout one at that. I don't get that warm, fuzzy feeling from my Trident or even my Vulcan, as much as I like it.

Cheaper SOG's like cheap Kershaw's are exactly that; cheap. Most of the SOG's I've gotten are cheap and overpriced, all though I feel like the Flash and Twitch lines are great. I really like the Aegis, but they especially are overpriced. Both SOG and CRKT have started using highly inferior steels in their cheaper fare which have turned me away. CRKT is always hit or miss with QC. Spyderco is consistently good all around, with Kershaw being decent at higher price points, but I have never been happy with the cheaper Kershaw's I have purchased. Their bead blast finish is more rust prone than most for me.

Way off bud, before giving advice you need to listen to advice others have given you.

Spyderco is head and shoulders above SOG and CRKT when it comes to quality of materials, F&F, and value (a lot more for your money, yes more expensive than SOG and CRKT). Spyderco's customer service is top notch, and they stand behind their knives 100 percent. It speaks volume that Sal Glesser takes time to respond in threads here in the Spyderco sub forum. I have a few SOGs that I like, mostly the Twitch series but have never found a CRKT I have liked.
