How does "LAWKS" works?

Hello people!

I am new to Bladeforums. I am certain we will be seeing each other here quite often :)

I've been reading about a knife known as "RYAN MODEL SEVEN", which is characterised by a supposingly unique locking system called "Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS)".

I would be most grateful if someone would help me understand how this locking system works.

Pushing the LAWKS lever forward...

...rotates a piece of metal into position that blocks the liner lock, preventing it from closing.
