How does one decide to go full AK?

Its unbelievable. I just got an M6, I have a skinny ash in the mail... and for the past two days I've been obsessing over an AK. I've only known the world of Busse for about a month now. Are they even obtainable? I know the SR Waki just came out, but I'd rather have an infi sword... I guess. How would I go about getting one, once I have the funds? Do they turn up for sale every now and then? Would a WTB thread attract sellers that wouldn't have listed it otherwise?

Opinions? Comments?

Post in the want to buy forum, and stalk the exchange. I see them now and then.

They can be had on the second hand market - don't be surprised if asking price is more than a killa zilla, though

There have been several AKs on the market lately on the Exchange.

I can't wait to have the Rodent Waki next to my AK.

AKs are definitely a good grab.

For the price, would a Waki be settling, or are they comparably decent. Would I be just as happy. Either one will most definitely be a user.

For the price, the Waki is unbeatable. Grab one while you can!

That said, the Ak-47 is an outrageous piece, and worth the money they command; if you can spend it.

I started into Busse blades with an AK ... now I have three of 'em.

Here's some motivation:

The video they have posted on the Swamp Rat sub-forum shows them chewing through ~12" Dia tree and then razoring through paper. That is all the toughness and edge-retention that I will ever need. INFI will beat it out for corrosion resistance so if you are looking to strip one be sure you are good about wiping down the sword and applying a preservative to the edge and any other surfaces where the coating has been removed through use or get the INFI version.

At this moment AKs are selling for >$800, you could purchase two wakis for that amount. In my own mind having the INFI version isn't worth at least double the cost. If I had a lot more discretionary funds I may or may not change my mind.

Also, if you get the Waki and use it and decide its not your cup of tea, it will probably sell for much of what you payed for it and has the potential to be worth even more. I would likely get the Waki, see if I NEED the AK47. If I do then save up the remainder of the cost for the Ak47, sell the Waki, and you are in business.

Get an AK and use it. They are far more than you ever will know from any picture or description. Their performance must be experienced to be believed.

Thanks man. Perfect, perfect response. Basically for my intended use, am I going to gain any more blade for the extra $400 I spent. Decisions, decisions...

The waki seems like it may be hard to pass up for the price. An AK will cost you twice as much. But the AK kicks so much a$$ it is worth it.:thumbup:

This would be the perfect time for you to look at a Swamp Rat Waki, pre-order is still open. The Waki is very similiar and is MUCH cheaper. Check out the Swamp Rat section here at Blade Forums. Same company, different brand so you get the same quality people standing behind the product.

Just a thought.

Les.

Any difference you see would be so very small that it doesn't even come close to making at least twice the price even reasonable.

If I had to give up all INFI except one the AK would be staying with me. It's hard to explain it but it just feels right.

Good luck.

You don't decide on an AK...

An AK will decide you are ready for it. That is the only way. That is the HOG-FU way...

iamtoast gave you the perfect answer. I second it. My Waki is in the mail right now. I expect it by Saturday.

The SR Waki is a must have! It was a long time coming too. You can't go wrong with one....or two. These just came today!
