How does one go about getting a Busse?

Do they have a stock of not cataloged blades? While I want a TGLB, I have no use or desire for a AA. I do want a BM of some sort, but is the used market the only route? Do you just call this legendary "Garth"? It almost seems like a secrete society that I am not a member of. I am still saving for my TGLB and hope its around for another few months so I can get my order in, but just trying to figure this out. If this is posted a quick link would be nice. I searched, but my searchfoo is weak. I mean like stupid weak. Maybe I should have my teenage daughter do search it out for me...

Busse only offers one or two knifes at a time and after a while they will offer a new design on their website.
The other places to find one would be The Busse Company Store and the "For Sale Forum"
Twice a year there is Knob Creek and in June there is the Blade Show.

Some times if they have an extra blank at the shop, they will make you a custom but it will cost more.

Check the forums and good luck..

Only one or two knives at a time? When they sell those two how long does it take them to make two more?

I've been watching the sales forum every day for a year and I don't recall seeing very many of them for sale. I just went back and searched the forum and found about 20 advertised for sale in the last 10 months so there are a few available. I suppose you have to be diligent in watching the forum and fast if you see one that you want. People complain that it is almost that bad with Spyderco ParaMilitary 2's but I managed to buy 2 of those this year.

Busse Combat does not have a stock of catalogued blades. You can order what you have seen on the site, and wait for it to be made. Your only way to get any flavor of Battle Mistress right now is on the resale market. Take your time to check out the many versions and variants of the BM family, search here and ebay for pricing, and you will be able to score your knife in due time. We are waiting for the next BM iteration, promised by Jerry, the LBNMSHBM. Who knows if it will ever arrive.

There is one authorized retail outlet with inventory, the Busse Company Store. http://www.bussecompanystore.com/

The SARGE7 is in stock now. Delivery is only days away.

HAHAHA

Not sure if serious, or made a good joke.

Busse has 2 very rarely 3 MODELS for sale on the busse website and occasionally one or two more on the busse company store

http://www.bussecombat.com/home/index.shtml
http://www.bussecompanystore.com/knives.htm

If you'll go to the top of this forum you will see the Busse / Swamprat / Scrapyard knives for sale section

there are literally dozens of bussekin for sale there

this is where you start. Once you figure out what you think you might want, do some research. There are reviews (several) for every model you might want, here on the forum.

Sorry, I'm not qualified to buy a Busse so I've never shopped seriously for them, I was just repeating what 1whobuys said in post #2.

Busse seems to have a very intense fan base considering how hard it is to actually get the knives.

It's VERY easy to get a busse... getting a specific model can be a bit more complex

if you just want a busse, you can have one in your hand in less than two weeks. Just go to the company store, and order a Sarge7

On the other hand, if you want a BM or an AK47, you CAN get one, but it will take you between 3 and 4 months at least.

I ordered 3 from the custom shop, and a TGLB. I had the TGLB in hand in 4 weeks, and 2 of the 3 custom shop blades within 6 weeks. I'm still waiting on my AK47 and it's been over 3 months.

What do you mean not qualified ?? If you have the $$s you are "qualified" . I have about 35 of them and I am 1/2 a world away. If you want one of the current offerings order away, delivery is between 2 and 8 weeks depending on what combos you specify, if you want an older model just watch the Busse/Swamp Rat/Scrap Yard marketplace here and I can about bet what you seek will appear within the month. Not bad for blades at are semi-custom/limited production.

The 'trough' at Blade can get a little intimidating for the uninitiated, but, sit back, watch and learn what Busse products are listed on the secondary market from day to day and sooner or later your 'piece' will turn up. Patience grasshopper....patience. Oh, and there is a society all right, right down to being knighted, but that's some pretty esoteric stuff that the hogs may or may not chime in about later. For now just watch the exchange to become familiar with the models you might be interested in. Just my two-cents!!

Be very careful! Once you get one, its reaaaaal hard to stop. Busse's are a lot like Lays chips.. betcha cant have just 1!

I remember when I found Busse. I also found the process mysterious.

In addition to direct order from Busse, the Busse Store and from private sellers on the exchange forum here, you can also catch Ganza releases. Those are announced here, and all you have to do is watch this forum (and a few others simultaneously), and send an email saying which model and how many you will take, all while trying to avoid the fake Jerry's, and knuckle heads trying to trick you into sending your email too soon. It is a lot of fun! You can hardly throw a handful of bills without getting a Busse (or Swamprat, or Scrapyard) sent your way.

Now the problem is not finding one to buy, it is not buying all the ones you find!

I know that Busse only offers a few models at a time. I've been lurking and learning and I visit there site often. But I keep hearing people talk about getting knives from the "custom shop", and I found that site to, but I can't find what they have. If I didn't work all day I would just call them and ask, which I may do Friday when I get off. But it seems that people are, infact getting new Busse knives that are not TGLB, SARG 7, or AAs. I was wondering where from.

Yeah, the Custom Shop site is pretty useless. It seems to be the case that Busse has blanks of some models available, and the Shop can make up a semi-custom knife from those. But you have to contact the Shop, or Garth directly, to determine if your desire can be fulfilled.

As mentioned above, it is now very easy to buy a Busse knife. It may take some patience to buy a particular Busse knife. Contrast this with the situation in the early days, some 10 - 12 years ago, when people payed for a knife and waited many months or a year for it to delivered.

The other "new" versions of old blades can either be falling out of people collections or made it onto the feeding tables at one of the larger knife shows.

Oh, trust me, I watch the exchange hear and know that one day I will have both the ones I think I want, and being used is fine with me. I just didn't know how to go about finding out about these mystery blanks and all that. The secrete society of Busse. I will be a member one day soon. Then to learn the secrete handshake...

Mostly its just a matter of pulling out the wallet or credit card and being willing to pay however much the knife you want costs. Really not all that difficult. Just expensive.
