Just curious as to what it takes to get on a waiting list. I love the looks of the knife but I just can't see dropping $1200 for one.

While its true that you don't have spend 1200 on an Emerson CQC-6 if you order one directly from the maker you should be aware that the wait on delivery is exceedingly long. Some folks are talking about a five tear wait at this point. Your best bet is to save up your beans and buy one of the CQC-6's that is currently available.

AC-23: It's really very easy to order a CQC6 or any other custom from Emerson. Just call them at 310-542-3050 in Redondo Beach, Ca. and tell them which knife you want and in what configuration. No deposit is required. In a couple months you should get a confirmation sheet showing your order and more importantly your order number. Now, just sit back and relax. Hopefully in approx. 5 years you'll hear from them that your knife is ready to be shipped! Good luck! - Or, for instant gratification, do as Arkhandrifter and the rest of us do; Grab one when you can on the secondary market.

Look under the post "Someone has a six for sale, and you'll find two that may still be available. Les Robertson is still showing one on his site for sale, and I may have one tomorrow for sale. Good Luck.
