i ask this because i got a baby sunfish a couple of weeks ago on auction and it had a cracked handle. when inspecting it i noticed a small notch out of the base of the tang on the main blade. i sent it in for an exchange with the seller i had bought it from and received a replacement in the mail today and it has a notch out of the same place. i just thought it was strange that there would be a notch in the tang in the same place as a totally different knife. this one doesn't appear to be cracked as i have checked it from all angles in the sunlight but, has almost no snap on the main blade, maybe just a soft pull i don't know. any info would be helpful. i would kind of like to just send it to the manufacturer to have the problem corrected but, if it is a factory second i doubt they would repair it.

S&M's are produced at Queen. I did not think that Queen admitted to there factory 2nd's. Perhaps I am incorrect about this though and someone will correct me here?..

Anyways, how's about some photo's so we can see what this mark looks like, please?

i can't right now i would have to restart my computer as i am running on a ubuntu disk because of some technical issues with my computer. i will try to describe better. on the kick of the main blade at the corner of it in about the center there is a littler grinder or file cut in it. maybe a millimeter deep and a millimeter wide. its at the kick corner that is on the same side as the tang stamp. i don't know if they have factory seconds but, i wouldn't know i don't have much experience with these knives seeing as how i only have two of them.

this is a poor quality pic i am sorry.

the darker shade mark on the kick is what i am referring to.

I just recently bought one, too, Buck. Probably from the same seller. I expect it is a second because he says nothing about a box (I think S&M won't put a second in a box) and the fit doesn't look real good in the pic. But I want to make it a user anyway, so worth the risk, especially since he does have a return policy.

What makes it suspicious to me is these marks are all in the same location on different knvies, which can be an identifier of a fake. There are a lot of knives like Cold Steel that are fakes sold on Ebay and they usually stick out because they are so much cheaper than what they should be. I bet if you send the knife to Queen they would be able to tell you if it is a fake or not.

i actually didn't really get this one much cheaper and the guy i got it from doesn't accept returns at least as is marked on his policy. i just contacted him and he apologized and told me i could return it and he would replace it. i even offered to pay for both his and my shipping and he declined. i don't believe it's a fake, i was reading some other members reviews of the same year model of this knife, though there wasn't anything about the mark in it there was a few people who mentioned the soft pull. i think i will send it to queen and see what they can do for it. if it is fake i guess they will tell me.
