How does Strider get the tiger stripes on the blade?

I know I saw the answer to this somewhere before, but when I tried the search function, I couldn't find it. Maybe I had a momentary lapse of reason. Anyway... what is the process? Is it more durable that the regular bead blasted finish? I didn't like the tiger stripes at first, but they're growing on me. Thanks for any input.

Strider gets them on by heat treating their knives and then bead blasting stripes off. Not sure of the details, but it is cool looking.

Jerry, find a tiger the right size for my Millenium Machete, and I'll promptly send it back to you for the stripe treatment. :D

AD:

when you take a blade out of the oven after baking on high heat next to some muffins, the blade has a dark scale on it. By blasting off the scale sellectively, you get the tiger striped pattern. It is possible to blast off the material and leave a smiley face as well, but this is less appealing on a war tool :)

A :) face? Is this a custom order? Now that would be cool. Can I get this done on an MT with G10 scales? Appeal, schmeel, I will pay what it costs.

I'll see what I can do. :D

I' ll be damed if I can rember where I read that.

You see you selectively drape the anchovies and or other pizza toppings(anchoies are reported to work best)over the blade and bake at 475 Deg F for like 22 minutes or so until golden brown...

Rember to remove the cord wrap.

How about a bum laden face with a line going across it, ala "No bum ladens". I wonder how much that would cost.

Come to think about it, I wouldn't want to desecrate my blade with so much as one of his whiskers.

...Unless, of course, my blade was sticking in his neck. (Sorry about the multiple posts)
