My Basic 4 has not arrived yet and I don't own a HACK or War Dog . But I had always thought the War Dog looked like an interesting sized knife .

Now that many have recieved their Basic 4's I see nothing but praise for the knife , so far anyway . I have heard many good things about the War Dog as well . So I'd like to ask those of you who have both or have had both , how they compare .

What do you like and dislike about each . Which one of the two would you choose over the other as a small camp knife or bushcraft knife and why ? Do you feel the two knives are different enough to own both (as users and not just to add to a collection) ?

I have had all the War Dogs and War Dog Hacks. They were all thicker than I wanted. The blade is also narrower. I like the broad blade of the anorexic Basic 4 much better. I do not have a thick Basic 4. My primary use is a hunting knife though.

Thanks Messer . OK....... other than Messer this has been as enlightening as a tooth brush in a mine shaft .

For the last week ever second thread has been about the new Basic 4 and now that I'm asking people to talk about it , they're claming up like witnesses at a mafia hit

We have ways of making you talk you know :emot-yarr: ...................... I have BEER ! :D

Now that I have tried and love the Basic 4 handle, I find myself interested in having the larger Hack.

That's why I'm asking . Before the Basic 4 was put up for sale I had been looking at the War Dog or HACK as a nice small INFI knife . I have bought a Basic 4 that is on it's way to me , but I was still wondering about the HACK as they do both have that same handle .

Mike, There are a few pics of the B4 with a War Dog on the "comparison pic with HRLM" post from 2-3-12

I have both the war dog and both sized b4's. I love them all mainly because the handles just do it for me. they fit my hand great. they are super comfortable in any grip. I personally love the the wardog's blade shape for bushcraft tasks. And I like the b4 for that and hunting. I'll post up some comparison shots tonight when I get home. they are definitely both killer blades made of INFI.

I have had the chance to play with all of those models.:D They are all great knives. It all depends on what you are planning on doing with them. IMO you can't go wrong with getting all of them. :p

I have not used both too much.

I would say the War Dog is more for stabbing a digging hole kind of stuff but works great for all kinds of camp chores, but I am with Messer it is a little thick for me.

The B4LE anorexic is in my top 5 favorites, it is a slicer and a looks to be a great skinner, I would not pry too much with it though.

What pics do you need ?

Both are great knives for sure. We used a war dog in deer camp this year just to see how it would perform. While thicker than most traditional skinning knives it did fine. The extra thickness made breaking bones a easy task. Didn't have a basic 4 at that time so I will have to get back to you on how they work at deer camp next season. My initial opinion is that it will also perform well. The anorexic for sure will be a great skinner.
