How does the Brend feel in the hand?

I would like to get some feedback from those who have handled a Brend Hatchet. How does that flat handle feel in the hand, particularly when chopping? I don't have any problem with flat-handled knives, but that narrow profile seems likely to get uncomfortable under the stress of repeated chopping strokes. I'd like a hatchet that can cut wood in addition to acting as a weapon. :)

Can anyone share their experience with me?

I am too tired at the moment to go into a lot of detail, but if you will use the search function, I have posted a bunch of stuff on my Brend. It's a great tool, and would make an awesome weapon if need be. To address what you ask, here is a quick one. You can wrap the handle with the supplied cord. Don't worry about the fancy strider wrap or anything like that. Just wrap it good and then go to a sporting good store and get a replacement golf club handle thing. It's a neoprine(sp?) type stretchable fabric. You can then cut it too length and pull it up over your wrapped handle. The result is VERY comfortable and easy to clean and remove. Hope that helps.

I used the Brend extensively in Iraq and it was really comfortable, however I wrapped the handle Strider style with 550 cord and it works wonderfully...

I also have an old style Brend and I actually modified mine to look like the new one...before the new one was even designed...
(good looking out...;) )

If you are looking for a great value and great working blade, the Brend is an exceptional value...and tool!

We are enroute to San Diego from Hawaii as we speak...
4 days and a wake up and I will be home...

Made the mistake in Hawaii of saying "man, I can't wait to get home to the good ole' USA!" and a lady corrected me and said, "you ARE in the USA!"

I think she knew what I meant thought!! ;) :D
