Those of you who have a microtech socom elite with grip tape inserts, how does it hold up during use?

I've had mine for about two years and it is holding up great. Still grippy, isn't pealing anywhere. If it ever did start to loose its grippyness it wouldn't be to terribly hard to replace yourself.

I removed the grip tape from the MTs I had. It seemed to hang up on my pockets and created drag. I replaced it with leather on a Makora. If you want low drag grippy, I could put rayskin.

Does anybody know if replacement inserts are for sale somewhere? Either original carbon fiber inserts or made in other materials by others than microtech.

I have the CF inserts and they look nice. The knife is designed so well that I don't believe the insert material is too important. The grip is wide, the jimping on the scales good and it's large enough that the scales themselves provide excellent grip. I would think that fashioning your own inserts would not be tough at all.

I can make some for you. What material you want?

I'm not sure what material I want. Maybe carbon fiber, or maybe wood or anodized titanium.

Are those materials something you can work with?

I prefer to use exotic leathers and stingray.

Sorry, that was back before I started taking pics of my work.
