How does the new S30V stack up?

I have been thinking about expanding my Spyderco selection with a Native. I have heard good things about the old Native with 440V blade; how does the new version with S30V compare in the edgeholding department? My main use would be things like cardboard, with the occasional marshmallow or hot dog stick whittling. I'm curious to see what people have to say about Spyderco's heat treat of S30V.

I know the Native holds a edge longer and finer than the 440V.I just got a S30V CE Military at blade.I have used it 2 days now and hasn't dulled at all.It also seems to be quite a bit sharper out of the box than the 440V.The big thing I am after is better shock resistance.A couple of weeks go the edge of my 440V military came in contact with a cement floor and caused some fine chipping on the edge, just enough to feel with your thumb nail and I still haven't gotten it all shappened out.I really need the dimond stones for my 204.

I personally really love the new S30V. Others have had complaints of difficulty sharpening it, but on my spyderco sharpmaker it takes me no more than 3 or 4 passes on the whites to bring the knife back to a super edge.

I also have found it to be very roll resistant, the edge is strong.

I carry a Strider GB and Strider SNG made from it also have the Military model in S30V it is equally as great as the $400.00 dollar folders from Strider.
The S30V is super IMO.

OUTSTANDING material. I got a new model Native about a month ago, I use it at work every day. It still pops hair. Love it!

Diamonds are the ONLY way to go with S30V, before my 204 I used a EZE LAP SF folding key chain sharpener.
It bit the harder steels great! ceramics won't get it done IMO. Ron
