Hey there! im new to the knife scene and after doing a lot of research I have made my choices: a Kershaw Leek and the crkt Peck.

now the last thing i want is people to get freaked out if I pull out a knife so I've decided on a silver leek and a rainbow peck. I have a feelin i'll be using the peck more and i see no reason for people to get freaked out by it. its tiny to begin with and I think people will find it a lot less menacing if its rainbow, but i dont want to get the finish if its going to get scuffed up from the keys or coins in my pockets!

also a little off subject: does anyone have any opinion on the Randall King Phantom Reflex Assisted opener? i read through the forums but it didnt come up when people were talking about the assited openers.

on another OT note how much does a decent sharpener run?

thanks again in advance!

AHEM... A friend of mine has a rainbow PECK and uses it as a money clip. My friend finds that the rainbow coating is holding up pretty well, but is is wearing a little bit after about 6 months. For the money it was a good deal. At least that's what my friend tells me...:foot: :D

Spyderco Sharpmaker around $ 40 to $50 (highly recommended on these forums)

Edge Pro Apex around $ 150 (the best system you could ever own.)

I have a Kershaw Leek in rainbow and a Chive in black boron. The Chive gets soaked with sweat pretty much all day every summer and is still looking like new. The Leek spends most of its time on letter-opening duty in the house and when I sharpened it last night, I found what appeared to be tiny rust spots on the handles. :-(

Stay sharp,
