How does the Zero Tolerance 0100 compare to a Ka-Bar?

While I'm in the market for a Zero Tolerance 0100 (http://www.kershawknives.com/productdetails.php?id=7&brand=zt) I'd like to hear your comments comparing it to two KaBars that I have and like a lot. Here's a pic:

What I'd like to know in particular is how you'd compare the ZT to the KaBars strengthwise, as well as how it would compare in a self defense situation, as it's blade is shorter.

Also, there's a great price differential. IMHO, the price for a new ZT 0100 is too high for me to justify at the present time, but used, or a blem, would be fine.

I'd really like to know if you've held a ZT 0100 and what it felt like to you. Does it compare ergo-wise to a ZT 0300?

Thanks.

I don't have any of those but I have been looking at the ZT 100 because it's one of the few production knives in 3v.

The Kabar will do more for you for the price.

The ZT0100 is going to be tough in nearly every sense both due to the steel and the full-tang construction. In a self-defense scenario, I'd take the kabar over the ZT simply because I am more comfortable with it. The ergonomics of all ZT knives are amazing and feel balanced and powerful in my mitts.

IMO, go with the kabar, and if you end up really wanting the ZT you can sell the kabar for what you bought it for and get the ZT.

Actually, I already have those two KaBars in the pics above. I'm just wondering how the ergos are on the ZT 0100. I have the ZT 0300 and ZT 0400ST, and their ergos are different. Have you handled the ZT 0100?

Now that a little while has gone by, it surprises me a bit to find there aren't any defenders of the ZT 0100 being better as a self-defense knife than my KaBars...

The ZT is a cool looking knife, and I'm looking for one.

That said, perhaps those KaBars are much better than I thought.

Is there nobody on BF who thinks the ZT 0100 is better than either of the KaBars I posted?

The zt is way stronger I'm sure but I don't see why there would be a big advantage in self defense. Imo, I would choose it over the kabar if price wasn't an issue because it's a lot stronger and looks more unique.

I'm sure that the 0100 would hold up to anything that you put your Ka-bars through, and some. There are some reviews here on BF and others out there on the web. I don't remember where they are, but with a little searching, I'm sure you could find them.

The 0100 ergos are amazing though--feels like an extension of the arm.

Yeah I'm sure it's far stronger . Genuine full tang knives are considerably stronger than rat tail tangs and all someone needs to do is hold one in there hand. I never had a full tang fixed blade until my Swamp rat and When I first held my RMD LE you could just feel how strong and solid the construction is.

BUT the D2 kabar is stronger than the 1095 or the next gen kabar.

I've no doubt the 0100 is probably stronger than the kabars. Full tang construction is what it is. That said, is it "better" in a self defense role? There's something about the way the kabars handle that is truly excellent, and more awesome in the hand, than say my ZT 0300. It probably has to do with the way it handles, plus the balance is perfect, IMHO, and it has about 4 inches more reach, which in a self defense situation may be the difference between life and death.

I've watched several videos of fellows who have the 0100, very interesting. Just want the opinions of those on BF. :)

The comment about the 0100 feeling like an extension of the arm is very helpful.

No doubt it would be stronger, at least at the hilt. Full tang knives, by design, and the 0100 looks to be in particular, really strong. I have a few. Thanks for the comments.

I can't say anything regarding SD / reach since that's primarily what a firearm would be for....

But, there is something to say about the precisely centered tip with the recurved blade. It punched through a car hood with hand strength on that video on youtube that I'm sure you've seen.
