How durable are inlays?

My friend wants a custom Todd Begg Beggatti to carry and use. I know there are probably some other people out there who can afford to do this, but I'm certainly not one of them, and I have to assume those people are few and far between. The inlays he wants are the lightning strike CF. I know they'll get scratched up, but will they stay in place? I doubt he'll beat on it. It'll probably be a fancy letter/box opener. But what if he drops it on, say, concrete? Will the inlays stay fixed to the knife?

Cool. I have no experience with crazy high end stuff, and I wasn't sure how to answer when he asked me.

CRK uses 3M double sided adhesive( forgot the number) and it holds up without issue. I've got a couple from 05 (micarta inlay) that have no issues. The wood inlays are my biggest concern because the wood may not hold up to wet environments over an extended period of time. So, those get carried seasonally. I think carbon fiber will hold up in any environment. I don't know if the auto industry uses the same 3M tape, but think about the emblems stuck to vehicles, it's just a double sided tape/adhesive and they stay on for a long time.

If the inlay is stabilized wood I wouldn't worry about it at all. Carbon fiber would be fine, also. You should glue it in with epoxy and it should not be a 5 min. epoxy. Use the 24 hr. set up kind.

Ajack60 - that is the best definition of arguing with an idiot I have ever seen !!!!
