How durable is the anodized finish on alox Vics?

I'm about to buy my first Alox Victorinox, and I think I've pretty much decided on the Pioneer. I intend to carry it in my "fifth pocket", or coin pocket, in my jeans as an EDC. I really like the look of the black anodized finish, but some of the comments I've read make me think it will come off too easily.

I don't plan to let it mingle with coins or keys, but it will obviously get rubbed by the denim, especially on the ends. Am I going to see the finish on the ends rub right off my knife? Just how fragile is it?

Also, I suppose it bears asking, do any of you carry a Pioneer in your fifth pocket? My Tinker fits fine, so I assume the Pioneer will also since it's not much longer but much slimmer. Anyone have any experience?

Thanks!

You'll be fine. The finish is quite durable in my experience. The silver ones last forever. My Soldier's scales look new, and its 20 years old, EDC. The Pioneer might be a little long for the watch pocket though, depending on what brand of jeans you wear.

The black will wear, but not totally disappear. Look at any photos of color alox Vics and you'll get a sense of how it looks. It doesn't look bad IMO, I find it stylish and character building.

My black Cadet is a few years old and has a fair bit of the colour gone, but I think it looks much better that way. Character marks are something to be proud of, as it shows the knife has seen a fair bit a carry time and use.

The finish wearing off the top edges of the texture/pattern in the Alox scales really adds character. Kind of a "pocket worn" look.

I've owned this Pioneer for close to 6 years now, and it's been in my pocket for most of them. It's showing some wear near the ends, but that's mainly because I have it on a lanyard so it hangs vertically in my pocket.

I like the way it looks personally.

That's a fine looking knife! I carried a Benchmade Leopard Cub clipped in my back pocket for 15 years. The dings and wear only make it more special to me. I guess I hadn't really thought about that when thinking of getting a new knife.
