I have a combat karambit and the lock travels almost all the way to the other side. Id say about 90% to 95% over when I wave it and thats pretty much the only way I open it. It locks up very tight but was wondering is this too far traveled over and send it in to Emerson or just leave it and be happy?

Yeah, I would wait until there is a problem with the lockup, which very likely may be never.

My newer versions are very early lock up. The Whole lock bar doesnt even seat on the blade. Older versions i have were closer to total.lock bar face on blade tang and various percentages. All that matters is a secure lockup to me. I prefer full lock bar on the blade but how far doesnt bother me as long as its a solid lockup.

I copied and pasted this for you from the Sticky here on Q/A . But it wouldn't hurt to contact EKI and see what they would suggest . Keep us posted 👍🏻

My lockup is late, what do I do?
Whether your lockup is late or early the knife is secure. Over time and use the lock bar will settle, sometimes around 50-60%. This is ok. If your knife develops lock rock or the lock bar travels over and touches the liner on the non-locking side, contact Emerson Knives and they will help you out. It has been OK'd by EKI to use BLUE Loctite in your pivot screw if you want to set your pivot to your preferred tightness.

My 2011 8 was about 30% off the lock face early. It is not spot on (BTW, hundreds of openings...wave and even flip) Every new (no date) Emersons have had 100% early lockup that I have seen. I have en Emerson dealer near me and get to play around. They all look good.

Here's a pic of my new Rangemaster I've had for a couple of days but have opened I'm guessing 100's of times lol watching tv and just kicking back breaking her in and this sheepdogs action is like glass really needed no breakin with the exception of the lock bar release which was barely sticky at times and is now absolutely perfect. Ok back to the lock bar position when new the lock bar was barely off the leading edge and now has settled in at I'd say 60% and hasn't moved . Here's a picture for comparison . Btw guys and gals this sheepdog is a winner in my book . Sorry OP not trying to get off topic.

I'm not worried about it, locks up tight, no rock or stick.

Couple more shameless pics [emoji4]

Out of my 20 or so Emersons that are currently in my collection, I have lockups from 5-100%. My smoothest knife, the Vindicator is even beyond 100 and is nearly touching the liner, but has zero lock, rock or stick and has perfect action as well as being my favorite. It also moved over after thousands of openings and tons of use. I also have a few with super early lockup that are just as solid as the full and the 50s.

Unless there is slip or rock, I would be content

I have on my daily user 90 percent lockup and its solid. Not going to trade that for an early lock which can fail easily with just little lock slip.
