how far does the knife continue into the handle?

Just wondering on the Pentagon or the NW Ranger how far the knife (Think its called the tang?) goes into the rubber handle. A cut away pic or a pic showing the knife before you put the handle on would be great?

Oh how do you attach these rubber handels anyhow?

You guys make some great blades, have 2 NW rangers and one Pentagon. Thinking about getting a Bowie next.

I think all of SOG's knives are full tang which means that the blade extends all the way through the handle. This is the best way to build a fixed blade. I have a bowie and the butcap is threaded onto the tang. It is a awesome knife!!!:)
 
Hi Eich,

All SOG fixed blades are full tang (meaning the blade steel is one piece all the way to the knife's butt). On the two knives you've mentioned, the Kraton handle is slid onto the tang and held into place by a grommet through the handle at the lanyard hole.

Actually, someone's dog chewed a handle off a SOG Tech. :) And I thought that excuse was limited to homework! ;)

It wasn't Gunnar, but not for lack of trying!!! I just didn't leave the Tech out for him to chew. The nice soft rubber (er... Kraton) would have felt so soothing when he was teething, Lord knows, everything else did!!!:eek:

I could try arranging a little something in terms of a great discount if you should ever require a complete rubber tree in time for Christmas. But you're going to have to figure out the shipping yourself... sorry.:)
