How far does your Sebenza lock bar travel?

New Sebenza addict question:

It is my understanding that the spec distance a Sebenza lock bar is supposed to travel is to cover 75% of the tang (from the Unofficial Sebenza FAQ).

However, I just received mine and the lock bar goes all the way over to the right scale, covering nearly 100% of the tang.

It's still pretty easy for me to open one-handed, and the lock-up is solid. Does anyone foresee any future problems with how far this lock bar goes? Should I bother sending it to CRK to have it "fixed"? How far does your Sebenza lock bar go?

Thanks!

Do a search for one of my recent posts regarding, how to go about rebuilding your Sebenza. Hope this helps...I think it will. Just make sure to completely re-assemble before actually opening the knife all the way.

On my small Sebenza the lock bar only covers 1/4 of the tang. I realize it shouldn't cover all of the tang in order to allow for wear but 1/4 seems to be less than optimal, doesn't it?

The lock on my new Large tanto covers about half of the blade tang when open.

Well...it covers around 75% on my large plain....

On my small plain...it's harder to tell. I'd say a bit over 75%...but less than 100%...call it 85%....but, again, harder to say for sure....

About 75% on my small plain. Solid lockup, and easy release. So far, so good.

My small decorated covers 75 percent.

Got both of my Lg. Plain Sebenza's out last night and both cover 75% of the tang. But I do notice that if you apply pressure to the knife's blade it moves a tad farther in covering about 85% or so of the tang area.

Now, that I tested that, back into my collection they will reside, they are the Caddilacs of my collection at the moment you know!
