Everybody thats into knifes should know about the Spyderco dodo. I just bought one, and would like to know how much money is reasonable to get one. How much money would you spend to get your hands on a dodo. $100 $200 $300. haha please reply.

I wouldn't pay over $200, and probably not over $150. Though I see some wingnut has one on evilbay for $325, good luck to him with that price.

Its a good knife, and in a great size, but its still a production albeit disco'd spyderco.

I paid $65 for a NIB blue one when they were first in production so anything over a $100 on a new version would hurt. When in production, the dodo;s full msrp was either $125 or $135, that along with the manix 2 cpm154 are the two best values ever to come out of Golden imo.

So this is the 2nd time today you have had me shaking my head. The other time was a certain listing you have where I thought the price was for both knives. I should have known better haha :D

I wouldnt actually pay that much myself. I do love hawkbills and if there was a dodo and a civilian laying next to each other, I'd grab the civilian (I own 3 civilians, no dodo's by choice). I could have bought one but I'd rather have another civilian.

The Dodo MSRP was $139.95 with a street price between $87.43 (lowest consistent price during it's production run was from NGK) and $100.00.

Around the time it was discontinued Sierra Trading Post had a load of Blue SE models on closeout for $55. It's one of the few deals I had the opportunity to partake it but passed on because I already owned one. Had no idea how good an investment that would have been.

I'd expect, with similar materials, the street price for the sprint would be above $100.00 but not by much.

I think a reasonable price for the older models would be between $150 and $175. Anything over that is just too much for a knife that has become less attractive due to the current perversion of gravity knife laws. Up until a few years ago the Dodo was one of the best city knives because it was cute and small. Alas, it does have a lock and that has become a liability in certain areas. This only really applies if one plans to carry and use the knife, something most Dodo owners would balk at. ;)

bah humbug, you cant use civilians, well we should hope you never have to ;) Now a dodo on the other hand, great user, I had zero complaints about it as an edc, great knife, miss mine.

I got a Blue Dodo SE for 120$ off another forum. Came with box.

The edge needed a little sharping but other than that it was a great buy.(in my mind). I wanted one for the longest time and when I finally saw it for 120$ I pulled the trigger.

Love the blue too!

I believe the Black Plain Edge Dodo's cost the most(thread on spydieforums)

I saw one for $150 on ebay last year this time, I just couldn't bring myself to pull teh trigger. At some point Sal mentioned at the Spyderco forums that an Orange DoDo would be coming down the road at some point. That is what I'll be picking up most assuredly. I wouldn't mind seeing an orange Yojimbo/Ronin brought around either ;)

I'm confused. You just bought one, correct? Did you pay what you think is an unreasonable amount for it? If so, then why did you do it?

I suspect, after viewing previous posts, that he wants the price so he knows what to charge on a certain auction site. Horrible feedback for only 8 months.

I'd be more than happy to suggest a price for a 10% pre-sale commission!

Wait! Nevermind....seems to me that would be helping someone conduct a sale on another site, allowing that someone to avoid paying the membership fees necessary to sell here!

And don't those membership fees keep BF up and running!?!?

So it's kinda like asking for help from a site, while not helping to support that site!

That doesn't seem right at all.
