How far should I shape a blade before heat-treat? (Blade and Lock-bar interface specifically)

Hey folks. Just looking for an answer to this simple question. I'm working on the final shape of a folding blade and the lock-bar that goes with it. I know how far to go with the bevel and such, but I have no idea how much I should work on the lock-bar and the notch it slots into near the pivot area on the blade. Do I do the fine-tuning before or after heat-treat? Taking off even just a little has a pretty huge effect on the overall blade position not to mention where the lock-bar ends up.

I would pick after given that heat treating can cause distortion.

A lot has changed since my heat treating education finished in 1984.

the lock bar face and corresponding ramp on the tang were the very last part of the mechanism I dialed in when I made a folder a little while ago. Way after heat treating.
Just the way I did it, couldn't say whether or not it's the right way, but it worked. Correlation is not causation, so... 🤷‍♂️
