How fast can you run?

Sounds like a weird way of advertising...still it could be fun.
I assume that there might have been someone who could beat him on 60 feet...but I'm curious to know what happened.

I'm sure there were a few. Of course, they would have a better chance properly equipped and ready for the contest. Just coming across it by chance, they would have to be very good to just step up and compete.

But it is as much for fun as for advertising. :)

Pretty cool. Not too many people can run under a five minute mile pace even for 60 feet. Lotsa people in NYC, though, increases the odds I would think...

That's what I thought. NYC is huge and everybody uses the subway, so I guess it's not too unlikely that some young athlete in running shoes passes there and gets a chance.
As for speed, it's not really the pace, it's how much one is able to accelerate from standing still. 60 feet is a pretty short distance, and I assume Ryan Hall does not train in maximum acceleration, while some passing-by football or baseball athlete (even a non-pro) could be more used to that...
Agree with Esav, I love this kind of advertising campaign. They're fun.

7min mile, 5min is insane. damn cheetahs.

I wish they'd do that kind of advertising in SD

When I saw the title of this thread, this was my first thought.

Then, my 2nd thought.

Ryan Hall may be able to beat the dog.....maybe not. :D

It's a great conceptual way of advertising, but I doubt anyone can show up wearing their street clothes, in street shoes, without a warm up, and what ever junkfood they have floating in their stomach, and out sprint a marathon runner for 60 ft who came to the shoot ready to run for multiple takes.

That's hard to believe....keeping that pace for the entire marathon? Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Ryan Hall is fast but I do not think he even made the podium. I now only run trail races but out of the few road marathons I have ran my fastest is 3h 44min. That's 8min 30sec miles. Oh and he is running at almost 13.5 MPH! Not many treadmills go that fast.

That's nuts. I've ran a 6 minute mile but there's no way I could have kept that up for more than a couple miles.
