I've heard LOTS of great things about the Spyderco Paramilitary 2, but how good is it really? Is it as great as I hear it is... alot of my youtube reviews say it is. I'm asking because I finally found a place that has some in stock (I contacted them 15 minutes ago and they already replied:thumbup:) for $111 shipped and I need to know if I should get it. If I do it will be my first Spyderco and I need to know if I'll like it and if it will perform the tasks I want it to. I have nothing against the Spydie Hole (like some people do), so is there anything I might not like???

Well its the improved version of a knife that some people considered a really good solid design. So that makes it a really freaken good design? :)

I would say the compression lock might be the only thing that might bug you, some like it, others don't. It definitely takes a bit of getting used to, but so does an axis lock, button lock, lockback, linerlock, etc...

It a very good knife with an great design and materials. :)

I will let you know in 2 days!!! I am hoping it is almost as good as everyone says it is.

This was me when I got it

It's one of the most comfortable knives I have ever used. Well worth the price and if you don't like it, there are plenty of people here that would be willing to take it off your hands.

It's good:thumbup:.

I see only two downsides:
1) I don't get to use it often enough.
2) There isn't a full production run of these in one of the "super" steels like S90V or CTS-20CP. But then again, I don't have to deal with the massive costs of grinding said steels. Still, S30V is getting a little...old for me:rolleyes:.

just got it today. Stiff but smooth blade travel which I assume will speed up once I break it in. I think I will really like the compression lock, makes for easy one hand open and close. Can flick it open and closed like and axis lock. I absolutely love the ergonomics, the knife just locks into my hand. And I like that they lengthened the blade. This is my first spyderco and it just seems quality when you hold it. Blade is dead center. Real nice tough look and feel. Razor sharp out of the box. If you dont like it, like someone else said you can sell it easily.

edit: Perfectly grippy G-10 by the way. There is no way this knife is coming out of my hand unless you cut it off.

edit 2: just cut up some boxes from tv dinners after a late snack, and the blade is stupid sharp, made the boxes look like paper. I was amazed how little effort it took.

I have one of the first versions of this knife and I really like it. The design is great and it's a very comfortable knife. My only gripe is that the compression lock is a bit stiff but it seems to be breaking in. And from what I understand, the newer ones from the second run are a little easier to deploy and close. I say go for it. For just over $100 it seems to be a bargain.
