If anyone has actual user experience, could you tell me how durable Protech's black blades are? Are they better than Benchmade? I like the look of them, but I hate the ones that scratch super easily. To date, the only companies I've seen excellent coatings on are the original Lone Wolf and William Henry. Any feedback would be great!

It's on par with everyone else's DLC type coatings. It's not gonna last forever, but Protech isn't one to skimp on much.

Don't let the coating prevent you from getting a great Protech knife. Eventually, if it's an EDC, the coating will wear, but underneath is their good 154CM steel, which is fairly rust resistant. Also, when it does where to the point where it annoys you, send it off to get some type of GunKote or CeraKote type coating. The GunKote type coatings are very good for knives, and I believe several knifemakers on the forum can do it for you at a reasonable price.

Also, just to add, in Tactical Knives Magazine, a few months ago there was a review and test of the new Protech Tr-4. The author showed a before and after comparison of the coatings. In, I believe, 3 months of EDC there was very little wear. It appeared to lighten in color a bit but this knife was also put through it's paces. I was impressed. Not blown away, but impressed.
