Rick's website says he's not taking any orders right now, is there any other place I can get one? All the Dealer links he provides on his website don't have any. I need an XM-18 how can I get one?

There is a "Knives, wanted to buy" section in the Exchange, above.

You can offer an insane amount of money for one. That is usually how scarce and popular knives change hands, generally speaking.

Be prepared to pay 25% to 50% over Rick's asking price.

XM-18s pop up for sale on the forums from time to time. Steven is right, though. They are in high demand, so be prepared to pay anywhere from $50 to $125 over Rick's maker's price for one.

Wow! I'm definately not prepared to do that, guess I'll have to get the Sebenza I've been thinking about. Thanks for the responses.

Guess that you just found out how badly you "needed" an XM-18.:D

You can look at it this way-If you intended it as a user(which it was meant as), and really wanted it, price would not matter.

There is also the speculative aspect of it, which means, let's say that after Rick fills his orders on these, that he is tired of making this model, and introduces a new one. Assuming that he continues to be a popular maker,(not a guaranteed assumption, but a reasonable one) the disireability of this discontinued model will go through the roof, resulting in much higher pricing than we are discussing now, and profit to you, when/if you sell it.

The Sebenza and the XM-18 are much different animals. The XM-18 is closer to a Strider SMF or SNG than anything else. If you have not looked at them yet, you might want to.

Then again there is another dealer who gets them on a regular basis and charges retail price. Wow what a concept.

No, no, no WWG, that would be too simple.....we need to let those that can rise above on the food chain on their own, find their way.

You have just offered a solution that would be entirely too simple and straightforeward....easily. Bad man, bad!!!:D

$50 over retail sounds like a pretty easy way to get a knife that is not that easy to find........You spend that much on a tank of gas!

Ah, *that* Rick. I should have guessed.

This is a very nice knife, and very decently priced (yeah, I know - and unavailable... :)). I wonder if he makes them with thumb disks.

Joss, I don't think the thumb disk is an option on the XM-18. The thumbstuds on that model also serve as a floating stop pin for the blade, so Rick would have to redesign the whole folder with a fixed stop pin in order to accommodate a thumb disk.
