How hard is it to remove the G-10 scales from a Para-Military?

I ordered a D2 Para the other day, but I'm not sure I'm going to like the green handles. I will probably try to trade them for standard black scales if I can, but I don't know how hard it is going to be to remove the original Foliage green scales.

Is it a big process to swap out the scales, or is it fairly straight forward?

Also, do you think it will be hard to find someone who will want to trade their black scales for my green scales?

This is all depending on whether or not I like the Foliage Green when I see it in person.

Might not be that easy, the rear lanyard pin is flared.

The lanyard sleeve is the problem area for both the Para Military and the Military models. That sleeve is flared on the ends so its got retention in the handle.

You may be able to use a drill bit in a drill press but mount the drill bit so its upside down and the none drilling part is sticking out so you can use the press as a press with a drill that fits in the hole in the scales but won't go through the one in the sleeve itself. Then you can press the sleeve out of the G10 side you need to remove. Press it back in place carefully when reassembling. Key word carefully. It will shave some G10 off the scale though and it may make the sleeve loose from then on. Just FYI

Simply apply a pinching motion to the cash in you wallet and buy the knife you really want.

but...D2.....

Actually, it is CPM D2. Great stuff, much preferable to S30V for me due to it taking and holding a better edge. I personally like the FG scales to contrast with all of my other Black G-10 knives, but to each his own.

I didn't have any great problem dissembling my Para. As noted, the lanyard tube is flared but if you take your time you'll get it out. IIRC I used a flathead screwdriver just big enough to span the tube, then slowly hammered it out.
