Looking for some help here.

What do you ladies and gents think?

What is too much double bit for a 28" cruiser handle?

I have a 3 and a half pound DB, give or take an ounce or two and a 28" cruiser handle. Should I hang 'er up or wait until I can get some new hickory in?

I plan to use this as a general duty, boat, truck, heavy camping rig.

Yes and no. No name handle. It would end up being about a 1/4 inch shy of filling the top part of the eye. I was contemplating kerfing the handle on the perpendicular and wedging to take up the extra room.

Just throwing around ideas on weather it might be too heavy for the shortened handle length and if anyone has done anything similar and what the results were.

I'd put a full size haft on a 3-1/2 pounder and look for something around 2-1/2 for the cruiser.

I'd say a 36" handle would be more appropriate for a 3 1/2 pounder. I'd go full length on anything above 3 pounds.

Thank you kindly gents. I just put in an order for a number of hickory sticks for the projects starting to pile up. A few full size DB handles will be among them. Hopefully a cruiser will be joining the collection soon!
