more specifically im wondering about their 8cr13mov and 13C26, thinking about doing some powder coating and don't want to ruin the blade. the storm 2 and volt 2 are my beaters anyway so i may just go for it.

I don't think the 350-420 temp of powder coating will really affect the hardness. I may be wrong, but think not I am.

Here's the heat treat chart for 13C26. By the looks of this you should stay below 350 F or so. Looks like powder coating temp is about 200 c or 392 F.

It looks risky to me.

I may be mistaken, but I thought the tempering temperature is what you lower the steel to after subjecting it to the heat treatment for hardening. The heat treatment itself is done at 1060°C (1940°F). Once the steel has been heat-treated and then tempered, how does the re-exposure to heat affect the steel? I would think you'd have to get the steel pretty hot (higher than the tempering temperatures, maybe even closer to the heat treat temps) to really get significant changes in the structure of the steel.

the edge sharpness seems alright, used my gatco sharpener to get the coating off the edge, thinking about putting some black on it, either like a splash or fade. ill post another pic if i go for it
