Yubari melon, $22,872, that's a lot of money for a fruit! That's at least 10-12 MOAB's! I would much rather have the MOAB's!
 
I can understand that rare things are more expensive, but my bet is this is mostly a matter of supply and demand. If everyone stopped buying caviare, and ignored the overpriced melon, prices would plummet.
What we really see here is an example of good salesmanship.
 
That bagel might be interesting, I'm not sure whether the golden leaves are necessary but if I had a spare $1000 I might try it. The goji berry infused Riesling jelly has my attention the most. I want to know if it tastes as good as it sounds. That Zillion Dollar Fritatta sounds pretty incredible as well, though.

I like the way you think! At least 10-12 MOABS would be something you can show off, those melons would never last as long.
 
After the Middle Eastern Banquet I went to last night I am pretty sure I wont eat again till sometime in May.... !!!!!!!! So ...no expensive fruits for me... ;)
