Hi Guys,

Thought I would do a bit of a WIP on my propane forge. I have also posted this on Australian blade forums.

I built the forge out of some steel scrap I rounded up. Dimensions:

395mm Long
210mm Internal Diameter
10mm Wall thickness

I used Kao wool and Sricast refractory cement to line the forge and got a burner from Karim at Tharwa Forge - http://www.tharwavalleyforge.com/

The refractory cement came out ok. I was pretty damn happy it didn't fall in on itself! I will keep running a little bit of heat into it and get it cooked over the next few days. Then all I need to do is get my fire bricks cut down to size for the floor and she will be ready to go.

I did mount the door on a bit of an angle. Crap measurements but I can fix that at a later date.

That looks pretty awesome! I like the poured refractory lining....I need to do that. Great looking little cooker:)

Very cool Matt! I need to clean up my forge a little bit, I will be coming back to this thread for sure.

Excellent work.

The only thing I would have added is a back opening similar to the front, but a bit smaller. You can then run longer stock through the forge. The back opening can be sealed with a cut-to-fit firebrick when not needed.

Thanks Stacy,

My next forge will have double openings for sure. I have a refractory supply 100m from my workshop and they look after me with Insulation and Refractory Cement! So I have a fair bit of material to play with!

The next one will be an improvement for sure. But I want to get this one running sweet then beat up on some hot steel!
