Hi. I just thought I would share with you guys the way I came up with to center the blade on my Spyderco Manix. First the blade was not off so much as to rub or anything but enough to spot easily and enough to bug me. The blade had no play either vertically or horizontally either. I had read that you could open it and try gently bending it until it took a set, but I was afraid of inducing blade play.
What I did was close the blade and tighten the pivot down tight enough that it was difficult to open. I then took a strip of three by five card and rolled it up into a thick dowel shape. I took this and smashed it flat to form a wedge of sorts. then with the knife closed I wedged it between the blade tip and the knife liner such as to push the tip pf the blade against the liner on the other side, the side that I wanted the blade to be closer to when centered. I also laid a piece of paper between the liner and the blade on the other side so that when the blade was held up against the liner there would be no chance of scratching the blade. The reason I tightened the pivot first is that I thought this would lessen the chance of creating blade play at the pivot. I left the knife with the wedge pushing on the blade for about a day and a half. I then removed the wedge and protective paper and adjusted the pivot back to the appropriate tension and the blade is perfectly centered. I still have have absolutely no blade play of any kind and am very happy.
I don't know but I thought maybe this would help someone else so I thought I would share it.
