I'm a bit of a woodworker in my spare time. And while these were very simple to make, I thought I'd share them with you.

Here is a table-top base for using my DC4, it just has little rubber stops on the bottom that you would find say on the bottom of furniture legs. I also have a 20 degree angle scribed on both sides

This is a mini-strop/pack-strop that I made up for doing quick touchups. I tried honing a kitchen knife on it, but it's a bit small for that. However it works very well on both my IZULA and RC-4

I use the green honing compound that you can get at Lee Valley tools for about $11, and the block should last a long time. I've got a place where I'm going to pick up a set of 2" x 12" leather strips to make a proper full length strop that can accomodate bigger knives.

All it took to restore the razor edge to my IZULA (after a bit of work abuse) was a few passes on the ceramic side of the DC4 and a half dozen passes on the loaded stop. As you can see my leg has served as a testing ground for the abilities of both my knives :D

Hope you enjoy the pics =)

Thanks for sharing! I ordered a DC4 a couple days ago. I might try my hand at a block like yours when it gets here. Great idea...

Ordered me a DC4 this morning - Need to try my hand at sharpening, the Izula needs it! I remember reading somewhere that you can use the DC4's leather case for stropping... As I know nothing about that, is this even possible?

That strop can be quite good for field use too. Doesn't seem to be too big

Well since you can strop on a cheap leather belt (as long as it's real leather) I suppose anything is possible lol. But it would probably ruin the look of the case as strop puts scratches in the leather, and if you want to use honing compound I would suggest a dedicated piece of leather.

This strop will probably make its way into my pack, nice and small =)

I hope I'm not being too enthusiastic when I say that adding the 20 degree lines is a stroke of genius!

P.S. No, that's not an intentional pun. Make of it what you will.

Haha not too enthusiastic at all. Not even my idea to begin with, I saw it somewhere (may have been on this forum?) and thought dang... now I don't have to eyeball the angles anymore :D

Yeah too bad the girlfriend gives me odd looks for my patchy legs... she figures I should shave them completely if I'm going to do that. Sheesh, what a ridiculous idea

Nice set up Wolffbite I like the DC-4 a great product, Great Idea thanks for sharing the Pics My Friend!

Nice set up. I find that I have as much compulsion to buy sharpening equipment as I do equipment to sharpen.
