The other day I posted picts and comments on my new SW here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438798

Many people asked how I wrapped it. A friend showed me how to do this last week, so here are picts of the process. It is not hard and only took me a half hour to do my warden. Took a lot longer to upload six pics on dial-up... ZZZZ

Here is the knife in question

Notice the wrap at the end goes under the other wraps. Here is how...

First I started laying a tail of the string along the bone and just wrap over it like this... I started this step on the top rear of the grip. I wrapped from the rear most part of the grip toward the front. I am showing on a wood dowel for clarity.

Keep wrapping over the tail. Leave the tail long and after you wrap over it you can cut it off and tuck the end under the wraps. I burned the ends of my tails. I don't think this is necessary. Just wrap tight, cut close and tuck under.

When you reach the end of the wrapping it gets fun. In this pict I am wrapping from left to right, I am taking the cord over the dowel away from me. Take the running end of the cord and go to the right and go over the dowel. Then add wraps under that loop going from right to left. It is important to add the number of wraps that you will need to finish. You may need to play with this until you get the hang of it. Lay the tail toward the left. You will move the wraps from the right side to the left side and over the tail.

Now move the wraps over the tail and tighten them down as you go. In this pict I have moved 2 wraps over the tail. I am holding them tight with my thumb.

When you have wrapped the last loop it will look like this.

Now just pull the tail to take up the loop. Pull tight and cut off the excess.

It may sound and look confusing. Practice on a dowel and you'll get it.

Have a Merry Christmas!!!

Thanks for the lesson,

Always good to learn new things, Now If I only had a SkGW.

Maybe later.....

Thanks
Nate

Yeah I can see it looks like a prusic sorta. Basically just a bunch of loops to hold the tail in place.

I greatly thank you. I have been trying to remember how I wrapped a walking stick back in the 60's. I have several more to do now. Thank you, Thank you.
