How is 440c manufactured?

Just a small question about 440c, is it vaccum melted like ats-34 or.....????

and how is it less pure than current 154cm or ats-34?

The best process is that of the CPM steels ,not only for the smaller carbides but fewer nonmetallic inclusions [cleaner]. Next would be vacuum degassed . Whether a mill vacuum degasses is up to them and would depend on the user. Certain industries have tighter specs , aircraft quality and bearing quality need cleaner steels and would be degassed.
