Excuse me for my ignorance, but I know very little about this company, other than its unbeatable reputation.

In the past, I've been under the impression that Busse knives had a long waiting period for orders. Is this just certain models?

I am toying with the idea of getting a Steel Heart-E.

Is this an easy knife to get?

Also, is this 7.5" blade a relatively good chopper?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Busse world!! :) From what Jerry has been posting lately, there is not much wait at all for the combat line, but obviously he is the only one that can give you an official response.

SH-E? Great choice! As soon as you hold it in your hand the first time, you'll have no doubt it was a great purchase. As for chopping, you don't get much better than the SH-E and BM-E, both are great choppers. Even better is the company and warranty behind the knives.

Some other people can probably chime with personal experiences with the SH-E to give you that first hand perspective.

You might want to try Andre DuMouchel, Busse West Coast Regional Coordinator. I saw Andre at two local shows in the last two weeks. Picked up a SH-E, BA-E & SJ at the shows. Andre is a great guy.

Welcome to the Busse Forum, glad you stopped by :)

From what I understand the CG grade knives(black finish) are shipping within 3-6 weeks of placing the order. Of course, as Firehorse mentioned there are Busse Dealers that you could try to contact and buy one from them also.

No matter where you get, it if its a Busse its the best you can get :D

The SH-e is a great blade and probably one of the most popular Busses, great for everyday utility tasks or taking to the field.

Let us know what you think once you receive it. ;):D

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Busse. The SH-E is a great blade, and comes from a kick-a$$ heritage.

Try and get to a show so you can see which ones feel best in YOUR hands. That is the test. Yes, I said ones, because you can't stop with just one.

Good place to start though.

Welcome to the Steel Heart therapy group komondor:D

As an all around utility blade it can't be beat! With a blade at 7.5" it's a hell of a chopper, and the ergo handle will let you do it all day long:D

If you get a chance to visit a show that Busse is attending you'll have a chance to handle one and probably be able to take one on the spot. Othewise, IIRC the wait from the shop is somewhere around three to six weeks.

Happy Chopping,
Kev

We're running on the early side of the 3-6 week delivery period at this time with Steel Heart Es. Welcome aboard! The Steel Heart is a great chopper, I'm sure that you won't be disappointed.

Thanks everyone, thanks Jerry, for all the helpful replies.

I will check out Andre's inventory.

The more I read, the more I want.

Can the SH chop? YES! It can chop very well, especially for its size. I have chopped quite a bit with it, up to about 6" dead wood (hard stuff).

Well, I did it.

I just ordered a SH-E with a Brown kydex sheath from Andre.

It should be here in a few days.

I will let you all know what I think.

Great choice!
The SH II [mine is an old straight handle version] has become my main heavy duty knife for trips to the "wild". yes, it chops great. A kydex sheath is also a good choice: I'm not a fan of the cordura.
I waited months for mine when I ordered it. A Busse without the wait?
Utopia!:)

Yeah, I was looking at some really old knife threads (3 to 4 yrs old) and I see it mentioned a few times how difficult it was to get these blades at one time.

What Jerry said! This is the knife that exemplifies Busse, IMHO. If you were to just get one and chopping were important to you, this would be about it.

Happy Hunting.

Hello Mr. Komondor:)
I am Strabs' girlfriend and had noticed your name while Kevin was browsing.
I was just wondering if you have a Komondor?

Hi Strabs' girlfriend.

No, I do not have a komondor, but I would love to have one. They are amazing animals from what I have read.

Are you familiar with them?
