It`s been around 110 - 112 degrees with the heat index here the last couple of days, but today it is storming, and a bit cooler. How is everyone holding out? What have you been doing? I ground out the 2 hatchets this morning to wrap up July orders, will heat treat tomorrow. Having a heck of a time typing, cut my right index finger bad this morning. With the bandaid on I keep hitting two keys at a time. (yes I do type with only one finger :o) So, what`s up?

I was working outside but the shop just called us in so now I'm on BF in the AC !!! Way to hot to work outside today !!!

heat sucks.
I've been working a lot -- trying to do outdoor chores either real early or real late (mowed the lawn at 9 PM the other evening and the heat index was still 101)
Yesterday i had to turn on the AC in the truck before sunrise on the way to work.
This morning I lit the grill and did my cooking before 9AM. (day off)
Have some leatherwork to do once I finish writing up a knife review.

I`ve been trying to beat the heat too. I`ve been out in the shop by 2 am, then usually coming in around 10. Don`t need to light the grill, just lay the meat on it!

I hope those storms are headed our way! I'm SO ready for a cool down!

Jeff

I've been drinking heavily.....it doesn't really cool me down that much but I don't care about the heat

I've been melting in it. I had a couple of nice days in Minnesota just before the heat hit there and since then I've been cooking in it. Iowa to New Jersey, Jersey to Pennsyltucky, Penn to Indiana and now I'm on my way to Dallas.
I'm glad the A/C works in my truck but I hate paying for the extra fuel it takes to idle it.
Hope the cut isn't too bad John. Cuts from sharp knives sometimes don't like to heal quickly.

you guys oughtta send some of that heat up this way, i woke up this morning to frost on the car!!! i don't know what it is this year but up north here has been the coldest it has ever been in july. i shouldn't have to wear winter gear to go for a bike ride in july!!!

I was a full time horseshoer until I hurt my back this spring. Now I guess I am a full time knife maker. I have both doors open and a big fan aimed at the grinder. My dog Dorthy and I are staying cooler than we have in years. It has been hot but it is a lot cooler without a horse leaning on you. Winter will still suck though as I don't have a very good heater in the shop.

Actually got some grinding done today, it was hot in the shop but we have a big fan (about 3.5 feet) so it wasn't bad, a beer or 4 after I was done made for a good day !

Out here it's just another summer day. But we don't have to deal with your humidity level.

I'm just south of Seattle & it's getting into the mid to high 70s today & tomorrow,
damn I'm going to melt. ;)
At least it's supposed to cool off for the work week.
MrMe,I lived in Everett in the early 70s,across from Silver Lake.
Love the PNW.
I feel for you all in the hot parts of the country.
I was stationed in N.C. for 12 years, took me that long to get used to the humidity.
Did I mention I love the PNW?Yup.
Stay cool guys.

It was a full week of hot weather, but today it has returned to normal and the temps fell back to 13C or 55F this afternoon. If the heat returns it will take it a few days to reload.

Hi John,

My wifes impala was showing 105f (40c) while driving around thursday. It was cooler yesterday, 98f, and today it is 90.

Working in the garage today, getting ready to call it a day.

Stay cool
