How is miltec-1 when it comes to lubing knives compared to rem oil?

What are its positives and negatives?

thanks~

It works good in small amounts and stays clean without attracting dust and dirt. It sort of dries up while continuing to work. I use it in places you aren't normally supposed to lube such as where the lock connects to the tang on a folding knife or the trigger parts in a gun. I use it on knife pivots as well but in addition to mineral oil. For the blade I only use mineral oil.

The negatives are that it isn't advertised as food safe (Tuf-Glide is food safe and similar) and I'm not sure if it's optimal as a rust inhibitor.

Here are the advantages of Militec1:

1) Great lubricant, keeps on working even when dry.
2) Thicker consistency makes it easy to apply just a small amount where you want it.

And the Disadvantages:

1) Needs to be heated to work properly (see the article by the Balisongcollector for instructions).
2) Strong chemical odor.
3) poor rust protection.

I switched to Tri-Flow instead. My main reason for switching was the application process and the stink of Militec.

i love it on guns, knifes not so much, i like tuffglide or even rem-oil better.

why?

it just seems to be too thick on a lotta my knives, especially ones with really tight tolerences, like my emerson CQC13 custom or any OTF auto i have tried it on, works well on some though, like my buck-strider 880, but the tuffglide/rem-oil works great on all of them, so i generally just use that for lubing knives.

i use millitec exclusively on my AR15's though.
