Hi guys, I am consider buying a Speed Bump(about $50) as a EDC knife. How is the quality? Is the plastic handle durable? I am a free member don't have search function. Any info or feedbacks would be appreciated! Thanks

personally i dont have the plastic handled version, but for around the same price i would try to get the alum handled version (1595ALBLK or 1595AL *as it is on my knife*). that way you dont have to worry about it :D should be able to find it fairly easily. NGK would be a great place to look first.

either way both knives are very good for the price. the studlock is nice and secure and once you get used to it, you will be reaching for it on your non-studlock knives lol.

good choice and welcome to the Kershaw forum :D

The plastic handles are plenty durable. They do feel like plastic, though. Overall a solid knife.

I second ol's suggestion of the 1595ALBLK or 1595AL. Great knife, beautiful recurve, and a killer stud lock!

hey m10commander... had never seen the knife but checked and wondered where are they available for $50??? The ones I saw were somwhat higher in price, especially the one with the S30V blade.
And PS SPXTrader, all my mail comes to my shop, not the house :D...

They are local to me. They dont have the bargain basement price on everything, but they are reasonable and they have decent service. I mainly look there for normal production models because they are a bit slow on getting the hot sprint runs, but they have a huge selection.

I've had the aluminum version for about a month. Dropped it on concrete yesterday with no discernible damage. Seems like it will hold up over the long run. It's a little beefier than the Leek.

Good call. I do hereby endorse the Speed Bump. I have the 1595AL myself. Great knife. Rock-solid lockup as well!
