I couldn't find the answer in my search engine endeavors, and I am intrigued as to whether it is pounded into the appropriate recesses while almost molten, or is it merely hammered into the voids left by the engraving when in the form of thin sheets? I am a big fan of this gorgeous design; the Japanese themselves, IMHO, don't have a better option on their katanas... It gives the blade instant fluidity, and is just brilliant with the aggressive design, and the contrasting metal color. HI's kamis really do it justice as evidenced by some of the wonderful photos I've seen.

All the more lure for me as far as the fabulous Chitlangi is concerned. I suffer from a perculiar strain of HIKV; the Chitlangi serotype. :D What a wonderful blade! :)

they make an agressive cut to fit the stuff in, hammer it in, then apply light heat to get it stuck in there. final grind and polish cleans off all the burr.

Thanks, Keith. Any idea of how deep the blade is incised for the Sword of Shiva? It appears to be more than with a typical engraving on the belly of the blade one typically sees, but less than on the grooves. Thanks! Dan :)
