Recently I am concidering purchasing of a single blade #73 , as my Bullnose pleased me pretty much and I want a bone scale version of it .

Here's the question-------How strong is the pull of #73 compared to a Bullnose ? Can it be pinched open (single blade vension)? :D

The newer versions are lighter but probably still not that light as a whole. The older models 2007-2009 are nowhere near a #71. There are also some spey models that would lend more to pinching open.

Oooh, shadow pattern bullnose! What a great idea! Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread. :)

I had a linerlock 73 and I currently have a Bullnose. I think My bullnose was made during the transition from the Red Neck stamp to the F&F Tool stamp because mine came with the older style tube graphics, it has a tang that says Red Neck but it has black delrin handles (I think only the earlier orange handled ones said Red Neck on them). Both have a pretty strong/hard pull, but the 73 definitely had a stronger pull. I could not easily pinch the 73 open like I can with my bullnose. The bullnose is stiff, but not as stiff as the 73 and it is definitely not a nail-breaker (for me anyways).

I've read that earlier 73s can be harder to open than the later made ones.

The two I had, the 73 was slightly harder pull, but not by much. I really don't know how to tell you other than both have strong snap, but are not uncomfortably hard to open.

I had one of the older 73 trappers, the blades were bear traps, and I did not carry it for that reason. It made me stay away from GEC patterns. I really liked the bone scales on that one too.

I have quite a few GEC patterns now, three of which are 73 patterns. One trapper and two single blades. The pull is perfect on all three. The single blades are recent purchases, and the trapper is used, presumably smoothed out over time.

I do have a Bullnose FF tool, and the pull is very good. It is not at that sweet spot like my 73's, but very workable nonetheless. Great Eastern is improving by leaps and bounds.

The singles can be pinched open.

To be more specific I found the availabale ones are all 735109 ,which means they are made in 2009 .

So can I assume the 2009 means they are the earlier ones and they have stronger pull ?

Mine is not too bad. Not what I would call easy to open if you are working and have slightly wet hands. For that reason it is not a work knife and is more used for light weekday use if at all. My Case and Queen, on the other hand, have a perfect balance of pull and security. They do get used much more often for weekend garage use.
