How is the quality of steel in Jaguars?

I think I have decided to get a Jaguar as my first balisong. I saw on a sight somwhere (Knifezilla?)that they use 420 steel in the blades. Is there any more specifics on that, what kind of 420 is it? How well is it heat treated? If no one knows the particulars of that, how does the steel hold up to use? How sharp an edge will it take? I think that fipping around a balisong is really cool, but I like to USE my knives to cut with too. Also, does any one make carbon steel blades for balisongs? Thanks.

Although there is some difference in opinion as to the exact steel, I believe it is 420HC. It just seems to act that way to me.

But reguardless of the steel, it will take a razor edge, I know, and considering that the balisong is more often than not a toy rather than a work knife, I think it holds up quite well for cutting knuckles.

I think the quality of the heat treat will vary, probably for the industrial quantities of blades in each batch.
I have three Jags. In two the blade was dented by hitting the latch. In one of them isntead, the latch was cutted without damage to the blade.

The Bear MGC Damascus balis seem to be carbon (will stain if you blink twice) but they are POSs for the most part. If you want a Bear you have to inspect it twice as close as you would any other knife.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

440C is better than 420, and Knifezilla sells jags with 420 stainless blades, other places sell jags with 440 Blades on them

Nobody sells Jags with 440 blades. If they tell you that, they are lying though their teeth. That, and many people don't seem to realize that there are only 8 models of Jags: Silver Skeletonized, Black Skeletonized, Silver w/ black inserts, Black w/black insert, and their serrated counterparts. Only eight. All other balis advertised as Jags are not Jags. And I know they don't use a 440x steel, because they are too expensive.
