How is the RussLock for pants pocket carry?

I'm thinking of buying one, but it looks like the thumb lever would always be poking, either in the thigh or through the pocket liner.

Also, how are they, size-wise?

When I got mine I was into peanuts back then and didn't like bigger traditionals so I ordered mine with a small sheath. Around this same time I started carrying stockmans the same size so I started dropping my RL in the pocket like my stockman and it carried just as good.

I dont own one but the only complaint I ever heard was that it would pull whatever else you had in your pocket out with it. The end would act as a hook. I dont know if thats true, just what I heard.

Haven't carried my RL in my pocket yet, only a small belt pouch. I'll have to give it a try and see.

I carried a Russlock for a while. The problem was not the poking but more of pocket fuzz gunking up the pivot area.

I carry a Russlock once in a while and don't really notice a difference in the pocket.

Thanks for asking this question, the russlock is kind of an odd bird for some of us who are unfamiliar with them. I've been curious, too.

I've been carying my first for a little time now and have had no problems in jeans or cargo shorts front pockets.

The Russlock is my normal EDC. I've no issue with it. However, I like the spear point blade over the clip.

The Russlock is the knife that brought me back to traditional knives after an extended break from them. The fact that was a traditional with one hand opening appealed to me. I carried it for several years. I liked to keep it in my watch pocket most of the time, sort of canted to the side with the lever up. It's a great knife in my opinion, and feels more comfortable in the hand than it appears it would. I'd still be carrying it, but I'm a little more interested in multiple-bladed traditional knives now.

Thanks for all the feedback, fellas. I just ordered one today, along with a Case peanut that you all seem to love so well.

I like the carbon steel of my Old Timer so much, I opted for the chrome vanadium for these.

Never a problem: I stitched up a small pouch sheath from some scrap leather. The pouch has a lanyard and a small extension on the back to stop the lever from digging into my pockets.

I have one, but I can't get my pants inside it to save my life. (sorry) :)

I just received the RussLock Friday. Wonderful little knife. I find it to be just big enough to allow a four-fingered grip. The one-handed opening is not fast, due to the strong backspring. I think the backspring is superfluous, since it is also a liner lock, but I guess it does ensure the knife won't start to come open in the pocket.

I think Case would be wise to fit it with a slightly weaker backspring. Thanks for the pix, NixelPix, the "in-the-hand" shot really helped put it into perspective.
